The 2008 QIA STAR Awards shortlist
Nominations for the 2008 STAR Awards are now closed, the judging process has already begun and the shortlist will be announced week commencing 18 August.
All short-listed nominees will be invited to a regional celebration event in October and then the glittering national awards ceremony in central London in November where the winners will be announced. Each of the 10 categories has 10 short-listed nominees who are treated to a special lunch, certificate presentation and informal networking and interview session hosted by a local media personality at the regional celebration events. Both nominees and their nominators are invited to the events where they have the opportunity to share what they do and why they have been nominated.
Amanda Hemmer, a performing arts teacher at the Royal National College for the Blind in Hereford attended the 2007 Midlands regional short-list event, she said “We were all made to feel very special and it was great meeting the other short-listed nominees.”
The host for the day was Joanne Malin from ITV Central News. Joanne turned the spotlight to nominees by conducting a series of informal STAR interviews.
